The Drifter’s Escape; an exhibition of paintings by Barry Charlton/Gareth Kemp/James Quin/Nick Sykes/Chiz Turnross

GarethKemp

The Drifter’s Escape is an exhibition of new paintings by five Liverpool artists. The exhibition is part of Liverpool Art Month and will include an exciting event called John Wesley Harding Revisited.   All five artists show paintings that pertain to the theme of The drifter’s Escape, either in very direct terms or very loosely; from Charlton’s historical portraits of Outlaws, Kemp’s paintings of constructed American landscapes showing scenes of death and tragedy, Nick Sykes’ quasi abstract landscapes/portraits steeped in myth and the outcasts, cowboys and drifters in the works by Quin and Turnross.

Making Shapes

In order to help raise the vital funding needed to promote and facilitate the events taking place for Liverpool Art Month, selected professional artists across Merseyside have dedicated their time to contribute to ‘Making Shapes.’

This is a crowd funding project that asks artists to create an original artwork using a small wooden Art Month shape – the piece can be inventive as the artist wants but must be representative of their individual practice.

Each artist has been provided with two pieces of wood that can be combined and styled in any way the artist sees fit.  These artworks will then be displayed at the Art Month Hub venue situated in Liverpool’s Albert Dock, and sold to raise the funds needed for the Art Month.  Artworks by high profile artists will be sold separately in an online auction.

In the spirit of supporting Liverpool Art Month, the artists are donating the artworks from the goodness of their hearts and receiving no payment.
